RA3, without it's unit cap, ensures there is no massive sacrifice for building multiple types of units in any quantity aside from the resources available to you it'll allow for you to create an adequate second strategy if your first attempt was thwarted. The unit-cap in SC2 also ensures that your decisions to favour one strategy over another is paramount and perhaps a deadly mistake if you choose the wrong strategy. This allows for a similar starting game but really diversifies itself into something epic the longer the game runs. RA3 is a different ballgame altogether because the factions in themselves overlap in similarity at the lower levels of the tech tree while being extremely different at the higher level of the tech-trees. This ensures that for any particular one of your building strategies has a particular set of counter-strategies, which forces one to make decisions extremely quickly. Each side provides a unique building strategy which doesn't exactly translate as easily to the other factions. SC2 is about extremely quick resource management and exploiting that to your advantage, it's very much a game about cognitive processing potential. The games are really different in nature even though belonging to the same genre. The game still looks great, I love the water effects & naval warfare! Too bad it only exists in private servers now. SC2 has definitely helped me step my game up in RA3. Other than the loose build order I use to do in Generals to get Auroras bombers ASAP in '10+ MIN NO RUSH' custom lobby games, I never did any of these things during strategies. I automatically try to focus on macro and perfect a build order to get a certain unit out. I'm constantly trying to harass and keep my opponent starved compared to back in all iterations of C&C where I would exclusively play'10 MIN NO RUSH' matches and build up a large army. I try to micro now by mid battle pulling back the unit being attacked to save it from being destroyed. Though I suspect thats what most other players did as well.

I used to just click my army on one individual enemy and my whole army would trip over themselves trying to get to it. Using A+move to attack and move units, something I never did in C&C before.
